Process and Scheduling of Commission Work

Current Mediums Available: digital drawing & coloring, traditional pencil, traditional charcoal, conte' crayon, willow & vine charcoals, acrylic paints, photo manipulation, custom jewelry design and creation.

Every commission is a little different. This should be regarded as a general representation of how things go down.

After discussing the project with you, I will provide a quote with a range of hours and an hourly rate. My rates vary depending upon the medium desired. Those uncomfortable with hourly rates can request a flat rate.

Once a price and a deadline have been decided upon, a deposit will be required. This is usually 20% of the final (quoted) price. My preferred payment method is Paypal, but I also take money orders and personal checks. Money orders and personal checks must clear before I consider the deposit received.
[Non-U.S. clients cannot use personal checks, sorry! Postal money orders are best in this case.]

DO NOT send deposit money until we have agreed upon a timeline and price.

I begin by making rough sketches that I will discuss with the client. Some clients like to be part of of every step of production and enjoy answering lots of questions and providing direction, while others are content to supply vague requirements and let me roll with it. I work well either way.

No matter the method, good communication is key. Though email has worked well for 90% of my projects, I can be available for chat on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ and GoogleTalk. I will even provide a phone number. Screenshots and status updates can be provided as often as desired.

12.20.07 New Look for Broken Tao!

This is the first time I've actually completely designed my web site. What a challenge! I had a lot of help building it from my wonderful husband.

NOTE: If you're using Firefox, you are probably not seeing the thumbnails aligning correctly and text may be oddly placed. These issues will hopefully be resolved by the end of the year. Broken Tao should be friendly to all browsers soon.

I go back to work on commissions January 1st! I hope everyone has a great holiday!
